Mobile Streams Commissions “NEXXT: The Hip Hop Mobile Series”

Mobile Streams Inc., the global mobile media specialist, announced today that they have commissioned The Nickels Group to produce the reality mobile programme, NEXXT: The Hip Hop Mobile Series.” “NEXXT” will offer mobile users an exclusive entrée into the hip hop world of Houston rappers The G.R.i.T. Boys. The “NEXXT” series is expected to premier in summer 2006 and will be available via carriers and direct to consumer placement.

“NEXXT” is the first reality mobile series of its kind. It will feature 52 2-3 minute episodes following the lives of The G.R.i.T. Boys, “Ghetto Reality in Texas,” and their struggle to become big time hip hop stars. MTV favorite Paul Wall is producing, developing and promoting The G.R.i.T. Boys, individually known as Poppy, Scooby, Unique and Yung Red under the label Mobetta Grooves & Co.

“The G.R.i.T. Boys are a reality rap group,” said Paul Wall, “they talk about real life situations, no exaggerations. They are something that the Houston rap scene really needs right now.”

“NEXXT” will follow The G.R.i.T. Boys over six months and explore all aspects of their hip hop lifestyle, with the gritty Houston streets serving as a dramatic urban backdrop. The show will also feature surprise guest appearances from emerging hip hop artists as well as some of its biggest stars. In addition to watching the series, mobile users will also be able to download exclusive “NEXXT” ringtones and wallpaper content.

“By creating the “NEXXT” series, Mobile Streams will provide a valuable platform for indie artists to gain exposure to potentially hundreds of millions of mobile phone users around the world,” said Daryl “Dogman” Young, co-founder of The Nickels Group, “As a result of these direct relationships with mobile users, the indies will be able to command larger royalties from digital music sales in future deals with major labels.”

“The future of mobile content is made-for-mobile content,” said Simon Buckingham, CEO of Mobile Steams, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with The Nickels Group on “NEXXT” the first ever
reality mobile series and look forward to watching the story unfold.”
