Action Figure, a small yet nationally acclaimed, Austin-based creative agency will be the first company in the history of the SXSW conferences to be showcased in all three categories in the same year, which begin this coming March.
As finalists for the 2004 SXSW Web Awards with the creation of their voter registration-based web site, VoterVirgin (votervirgin.com), and a nomination in film for their music video, Bring the Noise, (for The Unholy Trio and Blood Shot Records), Action Figure’s regular clients are surprised to find that two of the creative directors and principal partners are also band members in The Pretty Please, who will also be showcased in the SXSW Music Conference (http://www.sxsw.com/music/showcases/pages/4963.html).
Action Figure is most known for their award-winning graphic design and film production work with corporate clients such as IBM, Vignette, Tivoli and Ballet Austin. This small, nine person shop, is up against obvious world-wide, cutting-edge competition. The SXSW Music/Film/Interactive Conference and Festival is one of the most renowned and respected industry events on the planet.
Some of Action Figure’s current projects include a film for the World Congress on Information Technology, branding and website design for Downtown Austin and the concept/design/production of a coffee table cookbook for The Driskill Hotel.
“We’ve been so busy that I really haven’t had much time to realize that this is already such a great year for us," said Matt Hovis, Creative Director for Action Figure. "We always look forward to SXSW, and getting to see all of the new work out there .”
