Atlanta Music Scene Breaks Through As Hottest In America
Georgia is no stranger to a thriving independent music scene with bands such as, R.E.M, the B-52's, and Collective Soul. However, little has been heard from Atlanta – until now. BreakThru Radio (BTR) has named Atlanta the music scene to watch and will present DJ L’s special "In the Mix" Atlanta-only show. The show will air this week from June 19th – June 25th.
Georgia's own DJ L has been showcasing Atlanta artists throughout the year on her weekly Thursday show and has been instrumental in giving a voice to indie artists in the area. "I realized that Atlanta needed someone to represent its fast growing multi-genre music scene," said DJ L. "There is so much rich music here such as the technical beauty of Dropsonic, the fantastic, sing-along rock of Modern Skirts, and the funky beats of multi-ethnic hip-hop group, Collective Efforts. The strength of this music scene is that it isn’t limited to one genre as all genres of music are represented by Atlanta artists."
The "In the Mix" Playlist includes: (Song, Artist) The Distance, Trances Arc Movie Kiss, Y-O-U Chicken Fried, Zac Brown Band Doublewide, Jondonson My Bully, Modern Skirts Burn The Good Ones Down, Red Letter Agent I Feel Free, Collective Efforts Plaster Of Paris, Shelve The Armada A Commercial Break, Second Shift Sidewalks, The Modern Society Kill The Power, Snowden Half A World Away, The Whigs Summer’s Gone, Dropsonic
BTR broadcasts 24 hours a day on www.breakthruradio.com or www.NYTrack.com, New York's only website dedicated to the tri-state high school track community thus reaching over 5 million high school students. |
