Two young Dallas entrepreneurs have invented a new way of displaying art on the Internet. No longer will an artist have to wait until their work has reached popular attention to have his or her own art gallery. Roman Rubi and Jonathan Hilsher are working together to popularize a new form of art gallery, the virtual one. Their website, romangallery.com, will include a three dimensional world were artists can walk through an art gallery of their own, much like playing an online video game. After downloading a simple plug-in, individuals have the opportunity to experience their art in a totally new environment. “Imagine what your artwork would look like hanging on the wall of New York’s Museum of Modern Art.” Roman, the website creator, says he can take the dimensions of the artist’s favorite museum and place his/her artwork over where Picasso or Monett once hung. “This website blends the purity of art and the complexness of technology to breed all new form of expression, which most artist would never experience,” Jonathan explains while sipping a cup of coffee. This website has much room to grow, yet it is still in the developmental stage. They are currently developing the database that will soon harbor thousands of pieces of art from artists all over the globe. A brave new world is being created every day it seems. Even Roman and Jonathan are impressed by the functionality of the website, but their ultimate hope is to inspire artist in expanding their creativity, for now more than ever the “Average Joe” has a chance to be a successful artist.
