Hollywood Fans Get Connected

The Internet has radically altered the way movie fans learn about their favorite films and then communicate that information with each other. Film web sites have now exploded into a veritable kaleidoscope of public bulletin boards, cinema-based social networking groups and highly opinionated movie lover blogs.

Readers have the ability to share with us their comments and reactions to each item
Most recently, at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, there were a record number of fan-side folks blogging from Park City, Utah. No longer do movie lovers have to wait for Ebert & Roeper on a Sunday night or the Friday entertainment section of their local newspaper. Film appreciation is a 24/7 self-serve proposition, with cell phones coming up from the rear to further fuel this revolutionary fire.

FilmStew.com, a Hollywood based film and entertainment portal, has taken fan appreciation to a new level with their Project Tracker where fans can be notified anytime their favorite stars are attached to movie projects. FilmStew Chairman, John Culton, explains, "Fans and cinephiles alike can use the Project Tracker system not only to know what their favorite stars are doing, but to follow the filmmaking progress from development through production to completion.

FilmStew is also known for its edgy content and blogs.
"Through our blogs, 'Hollywood Spin' and 'In Hollywood', FilmStew is able to offer movie fans unique perspectives on the goings on of Tinseltown," explains Richard Horgan, Director of Content for FilmStew.com. "One is a highly opinionated take on the latest movie topics and trends, while the other is written more from the day-to-day POV of a journalist working in the entertainment journalism trenches."

"Readers have the ability to share with us their comments and reactions to each item," he continues. "It's the way they have become used to interacting with the Internet, and in many cases their observations add a whole new perspective to what is being covered."

Other digital tools such as FilmStew's Contact Directory provide further access to filmmakers and filmmaking. "Contact Directory isn't exactly a fan tool, but for the twenty million film workers worldwide it's a must have." says Culton, "It provides contact data and in many instances who represents the producer, writer, or talent."
