U.S. Radio Talk Show Hosts Broadcast Live from the UN

The United Nations Foundation (UN Foundation) announced today that the second "Talk Radio Day at the UN" will take place on Thursday, June 7, 2007. Created in partnership with Talkers Magazine and Talk Radio News Service, 20 U.S.-based radio show hosts from across the country will air their shows, both local and nationally syndicated, live from the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The talk radio hosts participating in the conference are: Marc Bernier of "The Marc Bernier show" on WNDB, Daytona Beach and WFHG-AM-FM, Bristol, VA; Alan Colmes of FOX Radio News; Jerry Doyle of the Talk Radio Network's "The Jerry Doyle Show;" Alan Stock and Kerri Kasem of KXNT, Las Vegas; Lionel of Air America Radio; Cenk Uybur and Ben Mankiewicz of Air America Radio's "The Young Turks;" Carole Marks of KRLA, Los Angeles and WABC, New York's "A Touch of Grey;" Jack Rice of WCCO, Minneapolis and CBS Radio Network; Ed Schultz of WFHG-FM and Jones Radio Network; Wendy Wang and Victoria Jones of Talk Radio News Service; Martha Zoller of WDUN, Gainesville, Georgia; Jerry Agar of WLS, Chicago; Gordon Deal of Wall Street Journal Radio Network; Randi Rhodes of Air America Radio; Michael Medved of Salem Radio Network; Joe Madison of WOL, Washington, D.C. and XM Satellite Radio; and Tom Becka of KFAB, Omaha.

American radio hosts from across the country were able to gain insight about numerous international issues that are largely ignored by the domestic media, and provide their audiences with an inside look at the broad range of work of the United Nations.
The hosts will interview officials from UN headquarters and from around the world to offer listeners first-hand accounts about the valuable work of the United Nations.

"Last year's event was the first of its kind and proved to be a great success," said Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers magazine. "American radio hosts from across the country were able to gain insight about numerous international issues that are largely ignored by the domestic media, and provide their audiences with an inside look at the broad range of work of the United Nations."

"This partnership is a great example of how the UN Foundation and the United Nations are working to bring the lifesaving work of the UN to the American public," said Kathy Bushkin Calvin, Executive Vice-President of the United Nations Foundation. "This event enables the experts both at headquarters and in the field to share their experiences as they work to address today's toughest global challenges."

The talk radio hosts will be on the air live from the United Nations from 6:00 am until 8:00 pm, offering millions of Americans the opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day operations of the international organization. They will discuss topics ranging from combating measles, to peacekeeping missions in Africa.

After the day of broadcasts, Talkers magazine plans to use key excerpts from its conversations and interviews to produce a radio documentary which will air on its official podcasting website,
www.podjockey.com.
