CP Records Announces Debut of Belly’s ‘The Revolution’

CP Records is thrilled to announce that the much-anticipated debut by Canadian rapper Belly, “The Revolution,” made its official introduction to Canada this week at number one on the Rap chart. The video for the first single from this double album release, “Pressure” featuring Ginuwine, also went number one at Much Music in April.

This is the first time ever a Canadian artist has entered the rap-hip hop chart at #1 in Canada on their debut release.

How big is this historic feat? In the US, T Pain beat out Rihanna to come in at #1 on the overall sales chart. In Canada, Belly almost tripled T Pain's sales and beat every other Hip Hop artist to take the #1 slot with the biggest hip hop album in the country – a feat never achieved before.

The Palestinian born Belly’s growing list of accolades includes four MuchMusic Video Awards (MMVAs) nominations, charting as the biggest new Canadian artist at Top 40 radio this year and becoming one of the highest charting Canadian urban artists in history. Belly is also the first Canadian hip-hop artist to go number one on MuchMusic with his debut video for “Pressure.”

Press from all over North America have taken notice of the impact Belly is having on hip-hop in Canada and around the world. In the months leading up to the release of The Revolution, Belly was interviewed for top entertainment news shows on CBC, CTV’s Etalk, Star Daily, Entertainment Tonight Canada, MuchMusic, MusiquePlus and Geraldo at Large for Fox News, among others. He’s also been featured on many reputable news outlets and hip-hop web sites, including AOL Canada, AllHipHop.com, TheSource.com, Vibe.com, quoted in USA Today cover story and Chartattack.com.

Born in Jenin, the Palestinian territories, Belly spent much of his formative years moving throughout the Middle East until finally settling in Ottawa . The Revolution includes two CDs: one called “The People,” and one called “The System.” This double album has allowed Belly to fully express himself as an artist and to share his vast and varied list of thoughts and experiences. It is rare to find a young man who possesses the amount of depth, knowledge and talent required to have his voice heard.
