Jim Biederman is Dailymotion's first professional mentor for the MotionMaker Mentor program in the US, which identifies and rewards outstanding contributors to the Dailymotion creative community.

"I believe that the creative adventure needs a guiding hand," said Biederman. "Hopefully, I can be that hand."

As part of Dailymotion's creative programming strategy, Biederman and the Dailymotion creative team, led by Danny Passman, reviewed all qualifying entries. Winners were chosen based on originality, potential for development and, of course, how much the video made Biederman laugh and cry.

"I found my last troupe, The Whitest Kids U'Know, when my agent emailed me. Now I have to do my own work, but there's too much comedy on the web to get a handle on it all. I am so thankful that Dailymotion approached me," stated Biederman. "Their users are unbelievably creative and refreshingly funny. Not only was it a good fit, but Dailymotion saved me from blindly trolling the web for months, or maybe years."

"We want to allow our users to just sit back and enjoy the videos submitted instead of forcing them to watch hundreds of videos in order to choose a winner," said Danny Passman, who is obsessed with a character from the winning entry's uncanny resemblance to his step-mom. "We left that part up to Jim Biederman, who spent 200 hours watching all 905 videos. He's certain to be an excellent mentor to The Dregs. Jim's wife, however, won't return my texts."

The "Great Sketch Comedy Showdown" contest coincided with the official launch of the popular site's localized US version.
