However, it has not stopped him from pursuing his love for creativity and having two paintings, Cityscape II and Tiki-Taki, juried into the Iona Arts Council's Second Annual Water Media Exhibit, Waterworks 2004; The Best of Water Media in Westchester, judged by Ann W. Gibb, AWS.
Both paintings are executed in non traditional way. In Cityscape II Hank executes the painting with brayers and Tiki-Taki is a watercolor monoprint.
The exhibit runs through April 22nd is at the Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery in the Iona College Arts Center, 715 North Ave. in New Rochelle, NY. There will be a reception Sunday, March 2nd, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public
Hank Rondina was born in the Bronx, New York in 1945.
In 1968, the artist became a police officer with the Mount Vernon Police Department in Westchester County, New York. He rose to the rank of Detective and Composite Artist. It was during his twenty-year career with the police department that he formalized his art
Over a ten-year period, he acquired an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice at Westchester Community College and entered the College of New Rochelle to concentrate in Art and Education. He graduated with a BA and a New York State Teacher Certification to teach Art K – 12 and was accepted in the Master of Fine Arts program at Lehman College, Bronx, New York.
In 1989, the artist was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa.
