City Ballet of Los Angeles pays tribute to first African American Ballerina of the Metropolitan Oper

City Ballet of Los Angeles will celebrate black History Month with a tribute to Janet Collines an artist that brook the color line in the Metropolitan Opera by becoming the first African American to become a full time member of the company. Arias will be performed by Malesha Jessie and a comentary of Ms. Collins life will be told by the Artistic Director of CBLA Robyn Gardenhire. Champange reception and program from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

City Ballet of Los Angeles is a professional company and school dedicated to dissassociating privilege with art and to giving economically and socially disadvantaged youth the opportunity to be apart of the ballet. (CBLA) has been honored and reconized by Mayor James Hahn ,the Los Angeles Times , Watts Times,and the Wave.
