Natural History Biodiversity poster of California Oak Woodland Community Premiers

Hundreds of thousands of acres of Oak woodlands in California are under assault from urban development, tree disease, and agriculture.

Good Nature Publishing Co. announced the premier of it's newest interpretive natural history poster, titled "California Oak Woodland Community".

Working with partner California Oak Foundation to educate California citizens about the importance of protecting oak woodlands, the new oil painting by award winning artist Suzanne Duranceau features over 25 native flora and fauna native to the California oak woodlands.

"This beautiful and educational art will help us work to protect the California Oak Wooodland ecosystems. At a glance, people can see a few of the thousands of species that depend on oak woodlands and call them home," said Janet Cobb, Executive Director of California Oak Foundation, who commissioned the new natural history poster.

Species shown are threatened with destruction from development, agriculture, and tree disease Sudden Oak Death.

Species illustrated include:

Birds: California Quails • Nuttall's woodpecker • Acorn Woodpecker • Western Blue bird • Yellow-billed Magpie • Anna's Hummingbird • Lazuli Bunting • Cooper's Hawk

Mammals• Dusky Footed woodrat • Black Bear • Mountain Lion • Mule deers • Gray fox • Rabbit

Insects:• Butterfly, California Dogface

Vegetation:Coast Live Oak • Maple vine • Poison oak • Californian poppies • Sticky Monkey Flowers • Blue Oaks • Madrone tree • Valley Oak • Willow • Black Oaks • Golden Chanterell
