Locals Take Pride in WORKING

WORKING, playing in Phillips Hall Theatre at Santa Ana College from March 4 through March 14, is theatre at its best! Based on Studs Terkel's best selling book of interviews with American workers, WORKING paints a vivid portrait of the men and women the world so often takes for granted: The schoolteacher, the parking lot attendant, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, the trucker, the fireman, the housewife, just to name a few. The hopes, dreams, joys and concerns of the average working American are the focus of this unique, extraordinary musical directed by Sheryl Donchey with Musical Direction by Diane King Vann. That the everyday lives of "common" men and women should be so compelling and moving will surprise and inspire anyone who has ever punched a time clock. Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso's book is a highly original look at the American landscape that’s simply impossible to forget. With music by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippen), Micki Grant (Don't B Bother Me, I Can't Cope), Craig Carnelia (Sweet Smell of Success), Mary Rodgers (Once Upon a Mattress) and James Taylor (You've Got a Friend, Shower the People). Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased in advance or at the door.

The talented cast includes Traci Pennington of Aliso Viejo, Marie Kelly of Corona, Melisa Cole, Samuel Cole and Spike Stewart of Garden Grove, Meredith Hubbard of Huntington Beach, Paul DeKeyser and Harriet Whitmyer of Irvine, Kerry Melachouris of Laguna Niguel, Eric Granados of La Habra, Ralph Richmond of Long Beach, Colleen Dunn and Rick Franklin of Orange, Stephen Reifenstein of Westminster, Kris Coleman of Van Nuys, Andrea Tibbs of Yorba Linda and Sean Cloutier, Colleen Coombs, Daniel V. Gonzalez, Amy Hallas, Rebecca Hyrkas, Trevor Reynolds and Wendy Tobiska of Santa Ana.
