Inaugural International Fine Art Photography Exhibition

The juried International Fine Art Photography Exhibition hosted by The Center for Fine Art Photography will showcase images created by hundreds of professional and amateur photographers from Europe, Asia and North America who use both traditional and digital methods to create their images.

The exhibition of some of the world's exceptional photography will hang from June 29 through August 21,2004 in the Main Gallery of the Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art, 201 S. College Avenue. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 10am - 6pm, Saturday 12pm - 5pm.

A public reception will be held on July 2, 2004 at the Fort Collins MOCA. The artists' reception at which the Juror will present over $6,000 in awards will be held on July 16 and is also open to the public. Images by the award winners will be posted on the Center’s website www.c4fap.org on May 3.

Center Director Larry Padgett states, "While defining photographic art is frequently debated, the Center defines it as visual art created primarily for its aesthetics, design and intellectual enrichment, encompassing both traditional and digital imagery. The art of photography is barely one hundred years old, yet its evolution has been astounding, thanks in part, to the infusion of digital technology and what it has added to the creative process."

Mary Virginia Swanson of Santa Fe juried the entries. Swanson reviews portfolios at such events as Fotofest, Review Santa Fe, Photo Americas, and has juried the Photo District News Annual Awards and the Just Color exhibition. Swanson is a leader in the fields of marketing and licensing fine art photography.

Guided viewing for student groups and others interested in learning more about the displayed work will be available throughout the exhibition period by appointment.

The Center for Fine Art Photography is a non-profit organization whose goal is to establish an internationally acclaimed venue for photographic education and exhibition. This annual international exhibition is the Center's effort to showcase the work of leading and emerging photographers and to educate the public about the collectable value of photographic art.
