Performance: Ben Neill and Bill Jones> Terrorvision Remixed
TERRORVISION PERFORMANCE Ben Neill + Bill Jones Live Remix @ EXIT ART Saturday MAY 22, 9pm FREE ADMISSION 475 Tenth Avenue New York, NY 10018 P 212 966 7745 F 212 925 2928 info@exitart.org
In their performance, four linked computers form a "Power Book band" that merges Neill's three-belled, computer interfaced mutantrumpet, keyboards, and other instruments with live MIDI controlled digital video. They literally play the moving pictures to create "video remixes" breathing life into real-time and recorded video. The music ranges from deep ambient soundscapes to funky electronic breakbeats.
Flavorpill.com: Ben Neill, whose super-charged beats fueled the Volkswagon Turbonium - http://www.greenbeet.com -commercial, rejoins collaborator Bill Jones for a live remix of sound and images from Exit Art's Terrorvision exhibition. An unsettling and sometimes brutal show, Terrorvision presents work from a group of international artists who explore personal and collective moments of fear. Jones and Neill regurgitate this culled material through live digital manipulation in an improvisational performance that seamlessly integrates deep ambient soundscapes and progressive backbeats with videos and stills. Equally at home in art houses and raves, the duo brings a minimalist sonic aesthetic to a sleek and menacing exhibition. (RA: from flavorpill new york, #206, May 18 2004)
