Hip-Hop Journalist Writes Movie Script
ATLANTA, GA . August 4, 2004 -- Hip-Hop journalist, Rahiem Shabazz has just finished penning “THE SUN WILL RISE”. The Sun Will Rise, centers on two funiture (Malachi and Stephon) get signed by a rap mogul, then lose their chance at stardom when one of them falls for the guy’s daughter. Drastic measures are needed to save the contract and keep the girl.
Letters on intent have been signed by Lil Cease (Junior Mafia) and Gangsta Boo (formerly of Three Six Mafia), in addition to a cast that includes many of hip-hop’s elite heavyweights from radio to television personalities. “Mos Def’s camp responded back with interest and wants a financial commitment before he signs on and I’m waiting for Universal pictures to green light the script,” states Rahiem.
Lil Cease is tapped to play the character Stephon, Gangsta Boo is reading for the part of Nakina, an office employee at Ampah Records. An accompany soundtrack will be released in conjunction with the movie. A-list producers Ron-G, Kyze, Dame Grease, Carlos Broady and Ty-Boogie will add production. Lil Cease, Chink, Gangsta Boo and Sec Cheddar are just a few of the rappers already slated to appear on the soundtrack.
In the mist of attempting to secure a deal for his script; Shabazz is finishing up his third script “LOVE ON LAY-AWAY”. Per a spokesperson for Mr. Shabazz the script is still in development, the cast has yet to be selected. Known in the Industry as a prolific writer, he has written for several publications, including Industry Status magazine, Hottie Magazine, Hoodz DVD Magazine, Crunk Magazine, Next Level Magazine, 3XS Magazine, Rolling Out, allhiphop.com, contrabandit.com and daveyd.com. He frequently travels throughout North America to moderate lecture, and be a panelists at forums held by Music Seminars, Talent Showcase and of course, Hip-Hop Appreciation Week.
Mr. Shabazz is a recognized hip-hop Journalist with credentials in writing video treatments, movie script, bio and press releases, magazine and online journalism. He is currently working on his life story where he reintroduces the readers to the early days of hip-hop and his early childhood leading up to becoming one of the industry most sought after journalist. After penning three movie scripts Mr. Shabazz wasted no time in working on his first novel. He is a member of the National Black Journalist Association (Atlanta Chapter), Atlanta Screenwriter's Circle and Mags Under 35.
According to Ran Goddie (Vacant Lot Records), “Once I read the script I knew it was a matter of time before it fell in the right hands”. Hip-hop biggest power broker Wendy Day had this to say, “A great story that has part comedy and romance”.
