Indican Pictures is pleased to announce the purchase of the first film in a 3 part series detailing unique, American perspectives in today’s cinema. Indican plans on rolling the film theatrically into markets starting with Austin and Los Angeles on November 21, 2003.
The film was acquired after premiering at the Austin Film Festival in October 2003. The film features in depth interviews and footage of off beat directors including Harold Ramis, John McNaughton, John Sayles and Forest Whitaker. In a day and age of MTV style interviews where celebrities appear to promote and shill their latest projects, “American Storytellers” instead focuses on creating an environment where the filmmakers appear relaxed and speak about their cinematic tastes as well as revealing their perspectives as human beings.
The producer/director Kevin Mukherji is already lining up his next installment with possible directors including Sean Penn and Steven Soderbergh. See this documentary that invokes the original idea behind storytelling --the Native American way of passing along culture through communication.
