The 4th Annual Tiburon International Film Festival Kicks Off March 10th–18th

San Francisco, CA  March 10, 2005 -- The 4th Annual Tiburon Film Festival hosts a spectacular representation of international films this year, running March 10 – 18th. The buzz begins opening night, Thursday, March 10th, with the screening of Happy Hour starring Anthony LaPaglia, Eric Stoltz, Caroleen Feeney and Robert Vaughn with the cast and crew in person at a reception to follow at the Corinthian Yacht Club. The reception will feature Jeremy Cohen’s Violin Jazz Quartet, Singer/ Songwriter Kathryn Keats with Aram Avagyan and a belly dance performance by the dancers of the film American Belly Dancer.

“The Tiburon International Film Festival seeks to provide a greater understanding of the world and its many cultures through the artistic medium of film, and through the top quality films from around the world that would not be accessible without an event of this nature, TIFF wishes to enhance tolerance between people of all backgrounds. TIFF's goal is one of cultural enrichment and heightened cultural awareness. TIFF strongly believes in "Understanding the World through Film,” said, Saeed Shafa, director of the Tiburon Film Festival.

This years’ festival will screen two hundred and seventy films from over sixty countries. The festival highlights four tributes:

Saturday, March 12th, 7:30 p.m.
A tribute to Orson Welles, Citizen Kane with F For Fake. A special program with his longtime cameraman, Gary Graver, who will show never seen film clips with lots of anecdotes will be held Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 2:40 pm.    

Saturday, March 12th, 10:45 a.m.
A tribute to the Motion Pictures Stuntmen, with a group of top stuntmen working in the industry today.

Sunday, March 12th, 3:00 p.m.
A tribute to Sam Pekinpah, another great American director, and to bring the spotlight back to Western genre by showing Pekinpah's West.

Saturday, March 12th, 8:30 p.m.
A tribute to Malcolm McDowell, one of the finest actors today of such films as: A Clockwork Orange, O Lucky Man, If. We will show A Clockwork Orange and his latest film Evilenko
Friday, March 11 at 7 pm.

Staying true to its Marin roots, The Tiburon Film Festival will be showing a collection of films made by Marin County filmmakers titled "Marin Filmmakers," a first program of its kind. The films are: Angle of Inspiration directed by John Antonelli, Birth Day, directed by Diana Paul, The Cold War? directed by Bill Henderson, The Hook, directed by Hughes Wisniewski, Imaginary Girls, directed by Jordan Livingston and The Math Tutor, directed by Greg Johnson.

A Spotlight on Cuba will be featured along with nine of their latest films and a collection of films related to our present situation in the Middle East between Palestinians and Israelis and the situation in Iraq will be showcased as well as, A Rush To War, an examination of the issues surrounding September 11th and American foreign policy.

Films for the music lovers such as Being Pavarotti, Stomp Odyssey will be shown, and for the sports fans Superstars, and a surfing homage, Somewhere, Anywhere, Everywhere.

The closing night and awards ceremony will be hosted on Friday, March 18th at Sam's Restaurant on Main Street in Tiburon, with Hélène Attia, a vocalist/guitarist/songwriter to perform.
