U2 Fan Party in Boston to Benefit the African Well Fund

May 3, 2005 -- The African Well Fund is pleased to announce an exciting benefit event. It’s called “Vertigone” and will take place May 23rd in Boston, on the eve of the U2 Vertigo tour’s arrival in Boston. Presented by www.atu2.com (@U2), one of the premier U2 fan websites, the party will take place at the historic Paradise Rock Club.

The Paradise Rock Club is located at 969 Commonwealth Avenue. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are available now online for $20 (not including service charges). Special guests for the evening will be The Joshua Tree Band, a Boston-based U2 tribute band, as well as Rebecca Correia, who will be opening. Also joining @U2 and the AWF will be Boston radio station WBMX Mix 98-5. In addition to the musical guests, there will be prizes, specialty drinks and much, much more. All proceeds form the evening will benefit the African Well Fund. For more detailed information about VERTIGONE including information on how to purchase tickets, please visit
http://www.atu2.com/events/05/vertigone/.

African Well Fund representatives will be on hand at the event with updates on our latest projects, AWF merchandise for sale and information on volunteer and fund-raising opportunities. The Vertigone party is the final event of the AWF’s 3rd annual “Build a Well for Bono’s Birthday” campaign. The previous two campaigns raised over $35,000 to build wells in Africa. This year’s campaign looks to be the most successful one yet.

The African Well Fund is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded by a group of U2 fans in late 2002. Proceeds from the African Well Fund are donated to Africare’s water projects in Africa. Africare is one of the leading private, non -profit charitable U.S. organizations assisting Africa. For more information please visit
www.africare.org. The African Well Fund was founded to focus on one achievable goal: providing access to clean water. The African Well Fund believes that access to clean water is not merely a basic human need but a basic human right.
