New Tech-Thriller Takes on Microsoft, Hollywood, Politicians

Seattle, WA  June 7, 2005 -- In his new novel, The Syndrome Rule, author and software industry insider Chris Jones etches out a story of a slick new handheld PC gone bad, politicians dancing with the world’s largest software company, and an entrepreneur trying to find his missing wife.

Set at Microsoft look-alike “Sky Software” in Redmond, the story follows a husband who is searching for his wife who works for the software giant. As he gains the help of two employees, the company completes a critical acquisition, makes deals with politicians in Washington, D.C., and struggles with the PR catastrophe of a new product gone fatally wrong.

The genesis for the novel is the clash of technology, business, and politics at the heart of today’s digital piracy issues. Says Jones, “I think we’re entering a new era, a time when many of the early promises of the Internet are finally coming to fruition. Now its time for the marketplace to catch up and create an environment taking advantage of new technology but allowing artists and publishers to retain control of their work.”

The Syndrome Rule is available online at Amazon.com, at BarnesAndNoble.com, and may be ordered through local booksellers everywhere.
